Leah in China

Here's Laurie's daughter Leah, en route to the Great Wall, wearing the blue flannel pajamas on the bus? train? I'm not sure...

pajama thought: awesome is the young woman who chooses travel attire as flannely as this!

Laurie in China

My friends Laurie and Chris just got back from a trip to China with their Girl Guide Rangers group. This was some trip, requiring a couple of years of planning and fundraising, done by the girls with the guidance and encouragement of their leaders.

I mailed the pajamas to Laurie, who packed them along to the top of the Great Wall of China, and wore them there, despite blistering 43 degree Celsius heat.

Hooray for the Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge girls and their leaders! Hooray for Laurie and Chris. Hooray for pajamas!

Pajama Thought: When the youngest among us demonstrate their ability to achieve great goals, we must know that the future of our world is in flannely awesome hands.

Franci in Oz

The pajamas traveled to Australia and New Zealand this Winter with my friend Franci. You have seen the photos from NZ, but not the Australian ones, until now. They were definitely worth the wait. Franci says:

Here are the blue pajamas, in Australia! IT TOOK ME 4 MONTHS TO FIND THEM. Didn't mean to shout.
Behind you see, from left to right, Sydney's Royal Botanical Gardens, the Harbour Bridge, & the Opera House.
I'll send you a few more photos from that afternoon.
Fondly, Franci (who also took the PJs to New Zealand - Cathedral Square in Christchurch)

(Franci claims to be wearing the pajamas in the sandal shot also.)

pajama thought: if a blue-flanneled pajama-wearing poet writes poetry in a posh cafe in Sydney, Australia, what does she rhyme with the colour of her toes?

Franci and the Pajamas are in New Zealand

My friend Franci is enjoying a December/January journey through New Zealand and Australia. Recently, she emailed me these photos.

Here's Franci's note:

Well here we are - the famous blue flannelette pajamas & I - in Cathedral Square in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is our last full day in NZ - now or never?

The night before, I represented World Poets at the open mic at the Irishman's Pub. When I told people there of this pajama plan, they approved wholeheartedly, saying I should also read poetry aloud at the same time.

Partner Joe was less enthusiastic. I tried to take the photo myself, then Joe was sympathetic & took the 2nd one here. You see the famous chalice (blue & silver) & Christchurch Cathedral in the background. I also include a photo of the base of the chalice, hope we can see the artist's name...

Shall choose the Australian location carefully, I have a cohort in Alicia, I'm sure... It will NOT be at the top of the Harbour Bridge - I have mild acrophobia & it costs $200!

All for now...Franci Louann

PS a hotel room in NZ was cool & the PJs were great for lounging...
PPS I became a connoisseur (2 s's?) of NZ Sauvignon Blanc!!!
PPPS I blind-copy my downunder update list, who may be bewildered...
M, I've just added L to the list, so he didn't get the other photos...

Franci's taking the 'jams down under

My friend Franci has volunteered to take the pajamas to Australia and New Zealand at Christmas time. She promises one photo from each country, which is perfect.

Watch for Franci in the pajamas (or pyjamas - as she prefers to spell them) soon!

pajama thought: kangaroos, koalas and kiwis - all in blue flannel!

The pajamas go to the Rockies

Here's Wendy - who received the pajamas from Lorna. Wendy wore the pajamas skiing. You can see that their flannely wonderfulness kept Wendy toasty warm up in the high alpine. Thank you Wendy, for wearing the pajamas and sharing your photograph of your adventure.
